World Superbike - Ruben Xaus

Ruben Xaus started racing with dirt-bikes at the age of 14. After several seasons in the cataln 80 cc and 125 cc championships, he tok part in the Open Ducados in 1994. Thanks to his good results, he moved to Thunderbike trophy in 1995. He earnt a brilliant 6th final place, and in 1997, he finished 17th for his first season in the World Supersport championship.

Youngest All-Japan 500 cc champion ever, Norick Abe was competing in the national Superbike championship when he was noticed out at the 500 cc Grand Prix on Suzuka circuit that he was racing as a wild-card rider. He was leading ahead of the class champions when crashed. Kenny Roberts, Yamaha team manager, called him to race in the world championship.

Katsuaki Fujiwara made his competition debut with pocket bikes and minibikes (279 victories from 292 races). 3rd in the '1994 and '1995 All-Japan 250 cc championship with Honda and vice-champion in the Superbike class in 1997 with Suzuki, Katsuaki Fujiwara raced two 500 cc Grand Prix (1996) and competed several times in the Suzuka 8 Hour race (2nd in 2005).

Max Biaggi's dream was to become a football star. Instead of this, he's one of the best riders of the two last decades. He made racing debut in little fortuitously on the advice of a friend. He quickly graduated the levels and his european title in the 250 cc class put him on the way to Grand Prix. For his first season, he won the last rund at Kyalami (South Africa). He replaced Luca Cadalora in Erv Kanemoto's team in 1993. He had a good season (one win and four other top-3 finishes) ut joined back the Aprilia squad in 1994.

Hannibal Smith said : "I love it when a plan comes together”. I totally agree this catch phrase. Unfortunately, it's not always the case... For once, I had to go to the circuit on the Saturday instead of the Thursday. I knew it would be harder to meet the riders because of the qualifying sessions. But, anyway, that would be "spicier"... My departure was delayed in the morning, it didn't begin very well. Beware of radar traps on the way. 11:30 AM, I'm at the media accreditation centre, looking after my pass. Problem : no envelope for me. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH !

News - Winter tests : Poppies 03/08/2007
Last winter, I had already experimented poppies drawing and painting. I had seen some examples of very nice watercolours of this rather simple flower. Perhaps too much... To fix it up, it's necessary to use the brush a "light" way, to get the right colour mix and the good quantity of water. My mistake had been to start with a too large drawing (12 X 16 "). My second test with a 9,6 x 12 " sheet was not more conclusive and I eventually tried colour pencils. This year, no question of giving up.
