Colin Edwards discovered the international tracks with the official Superbike Yamaha team in 1995 and claimed his first Suzuka 8 Hours win in 1996. Injured in 1997, he joined Honda the following season and became a major figure of the series with two world titles (2000 and 2002) and two runner-up positions (1999 and 2001). His struggle with Troy Bayliss at 2002 final round in Imola remains a legendary moment. In spite of his second world title and two more Suzuka 8 Hours wins (2001 and 2002), Honda didn’t offer him any MotoGP ride but Aprilia recruited him alongside Noriyuki Haga. After thundering winter tests, the season appeared very disappointing. Back on a Honda machinery in 2004, in Fausto Gresini's team, Colin Edwards clinched two podiums at Donington Park and Losail. Since 2005, he contends again for Yamaha : alongside his friend Valentino Rossi for three seasons and with the Tech 3 team since 2008. At ease in the qualifying exercise, Colin Edwards records good results in race but still chases his first MotoGP win, which he narrowly missed at '2006 Dutch TT.
