Sylvain Guintoli started racing on a scooter in 1994 and began his motorbike career in the 125 cc French championship five years later. The year after, he moved to the upper category with the French Team. He clinched the national title and finished the European championship in 3rd position. He made his Grand Prix debuts in 2001 in the same structure. Considering he had to discover many circuits, Sylvain Guintoli performed well (4th in Assen). In 2002, he joined the Tech 3 team as a test rider. A one year experience. In 2003, Sylvain Guintoli returned to the 250 cc world championship with Campatella (3rd at 2003 Dutch TT) then with the French Grand Prix Team - Scrab (best privateer in 2005). After conclusive tests for Dunlop in 2006, he joined the Tech 3 team as a permanent rider alongside Makoto Tamada. He had good results all along the season : leading the French Grand Prix, 4th at Motegi... This brilliant first season secured him a ride on a d'Antin's Ducati in 2008. Searching for the right setup all along the season, he didn't manage to repeat his performances. One moment expected in World Superbikes for 2009, Sylvain Guintoli was recruited by Suzuki in the British series. Opening race winner, his season was ruined by a bad injury in the third round at Donington. Suzuki reasserted its confidence in him by offering him a world championship ride in 2010.
