Noriyuki Haga made his racing debuts in the All-Japan 250 cc (1992-1993) and Superbike (1994-1997) championships. Teamed with Colin Edwards, he claimed his first international win at the 1996 Suzuka 8 Hour race win and clinched the Japanese Superbike title the season after. Thanks to three top-3 finishes out of four world championship race starts, he secured a permanent ride for 1998. Noriyuki Haga quickly became one of the class leaders. He never really ran for the title before the season 2000. When Yamaha decided to withdraw from the series, Noriyuki Haga accepted (almost unwillingly) a 500 cc ride with the Red Bull team. He recorded a 4th place at Donington as best result. He switched back to World Superbikes in 2002 with Aprilia. Competitive again, he finished 4th but returned to MotoGP in 2003. More consistant, his machine didn't allow him to enter the top-10 more often (7th at Donington and 8th in Le Mans). For his second come-back to World Superbike championship, Noriyuki Haga finished in 3rd position aboard his Renegade Ducati. In 2005, Yamaha recruited him to ride the new R1. Winner of several races, Noriyuki Haga lacked the title since 2005 because of his poor season starts. Successor of Troy Bayliss in the Ducati squad in 2009, Nori played his best card in 2009. With a 10 points lead on Ben Spies before the final round, he finally missed the title by 6 points.
