Yukio Kagayama is a "pure product" from the Suzuki factory . He started his professional career as test rider with the 500 RGV Grand Prix machine in 1993. 1995 through 2002, he competed in the 250 cc (3rd in 1997) and Superbike (4th in 2001) All-Japan championships . In 2002, he raced with the GSV-R MotoGP prototype and earned three victories. Thanks to his test rider job, he also took part in several 250 cc (6th of the '97 and '98 Japanese GP) and 500 cc (6th of '98 Malaysian GP) GP races. In 2003, Yukio Kagayama moved to the British Superbike Championship. He claimed three race wins in his maiden season before being the victim of a serious accident at Cadwell Park. Miracle man, he came back to racing a few months later and finished the championship in 3rd position. Since 2005, he's been racing in the World Superbike series with the Alstare team and took several victories. His greatest result remain his success at the '2007 Suzuka 8 Hours race, teamed with Kousuke Akiyoshi. In 2010, he'll return to British Superbikes.
